U.S. President Donald Trump is gearing up to launch a new digital game inspired by Monopoly, integrating blockchain-based play-to-earn mechanics into the virtual world. According to a Fortune report released Tuesday, the game will allow users to build virtual properties, roll digital dice, and earn in-game crypto rewards, adding another layer to Trump’s expanding presence in the digital asset space.
The project is reportedly being developed by Bill Zanker, a close Trump ally who previously helped launch his NFT collections and the Official Trump meme coin.
Crypto Meets Classic Board Game Fun
While the game reportedly mirrors Monopoly’s style, with its property-trading and wealth-building concept, official Monopoly owner Hasbro confirmed it has not licensed its intellectual property to any Trump-affiliated organization.
Back in May 2024, Zanker tried to secure rights to “Trump: The Game”, Trump’s 1989 board game heavily inspired by Monopoly and his best-selling book The Art of the Deal. However, sources say he was informed the rights were no longer available.
Despite these IP limitations, a Monopoly-style experience is in the works, albeit without official branding.
Trump’s Crypto Ambitions Expand
Trump’s fascination with Monopoly dates back to childhood, according to family members. His interest has evolved into a growing digital empire. The upcoming game would be the latest addition to his crypto portfolio, which includes:
-
Trump NFT Collections
-
Official Trump Meme Coin
-
Trademarked digital metaverse ecosystem
-
TRUMP-branded virtual apparel & restaurant simulations
In late February, the Trump Organization filed a trademark application with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, signaling plans for a Trump-themed metaverse ecosystem and exclusive NFT-verified content.
Family Ventures and Future Plans
The Trump family has also been quietly expanding their crypto reach. Recent initiatives include:
-
World Liberty Financial, a DeFi project launching its stablecoin, with plans to explore real-world asset (RWA) tokenization
-
American Bitcoin, a mining initiative
These ventures suggest a multi-pronged strategy toward blockchain and Web3 infrastructure, blending entertainment, finance, and real estate in a digital-first approach.
What to Expect from Trump’s Crypto Game?
While official gameplay details are yet to be announced, sources close to the development say the release is expected this month. Kevin Mercuri, spokesperson for Bill Zanker, confirmed a game launch was imminent but denied any official connection to Monopoly.
With crypto gaming gaining momentum globally, Trump’s entry into the play-to-earn market could attract attention from both blockchain enthusiasts and his massive political base.
