Of the funds raised, Metaplanet plans to allocate JPY 183.7 billion toward Bitcoin purchases for its corporate treasury, while JPY 20.4 billion will be directed to income-generating Bitcoin business initiatives.
Metaplanet Strengthens Bitcoin Accumulation
The latest development highlights Metaplanet’s determination to expand its BTC reserves, even after surpassing its two-year acquisition target. Earlier this week, the company disclosed the purchase of an additional 136 BTC valued at about $15.2 million.
As a result, Metaplanet now holds 20,136 BTC, with a year-to-date yield of 487 BTC in 2025. At current Bitcoin prices around $111,000, the company’s total Bitcoin reserves are valued at roughly $2.2 billion.
Earlier this month, Metaplanet’s shareholders approved significant resolutions at its extraordinary general meeting (EGM), including an increase in authorized shares and a new provision for perpetual preferred stocks.
Despite concerns over potential overexposure, Metaplanet remains committed to its Bitcoin-focused corporate strategy, mirroring the approach of MicroStrategy and its executive chairman, Michael Saylor.
Bigger Picture in Corporate Bitcoin Holdings
According to BitcoinTreasuries data, around 319 companies collectively hold 3.71 million BTC, reflecting a 1.79% increase over the past month.
With its $1.4 billion purchase plan, Metaplanet is on track to become the fourth-largest publicly traded Bitcoin holder, with projections suggesting the company could surpass 30,000 BTC in reserves. Currently ranked sixth, Metaplanet may soon overtake Bullish and Bitcoin Standard once the new acquisitions are finalized.
The move further cements Bitcoin’s growing role as a corporate treasury asset, highlighting the global trend of firms integrating BTC into long-term balance sheet strategies.
