Crypto trader Matthew Hyland highlighted the setup, while analyst Crypto Ceasar noted that the monthly Bollinger Bands are showing “historical tightness.” Ceasar added, “This has previously led to heavy volatility to the upside. Bitcoin could be in for a spicy Q4.”
Past periods of similar contractions in 2012, 2016, and 2020 all preceded massive bull runs, according to investor Giannis Andreou, who believes the current setup is even tighter. “Huge volatility ahead,” he wrote, pointing to the potential for the biggest move in Bitcoin’s history.
Bitcoin’s Cup-and-Handle Pattern Targets $305K
Beyond Bollinger Bands, chart patterns are also signaling bullish momentum. Analysts point to a cup-and-handle formation that began with the breakout above $69,000 in November 2024.
If validated, this technical setup could push Bitcoin toward $305,000 by 2025–2026, representing a more than 170% rise from current levels.
However, while the pattern is historically bullish, veteran analyst Thomas Bulkowski’s research shows that only about 61% of cup-and-handle formations reach their projected targets, reminding investors that caution is still necessary.
Institutional Demand Strengthens the Bull Case
Bitcoin’s fundamentals appear to support the technical picture. Institutional interest remains strong, especially via spot Bitcoin ETFs, which saw renewed inflows this week after months of cooling demand.
“Money is moving back into Bitcoin ETFs at a rapid rate as retailers impatiently drop out of crypto,” analytics firm Santiment wrote on X.
Combined with expectations of U.S. Federal Reserve interest rate cuts and increasing treasury allocations, Bitcoin could mirror gold’s rally and push toward new all-time highs.
With Bollinger Bands showing historic compression, ETF inflows accelerating, and technical setups targeting six-figure prices, analysts believe Bitcoin could be on the verge of its most explosive rally yet.
