Novogratz argued that if the Fed adopts aggressive rate cuts under a new chair, traditional assets like bonds would lose appeal, pushing investors toward Bitcoin, gold, and risk assets. He warned, however, that while this would ignite a “blow-off top” for Bitcoin, it could be “really bad for America,” risking Fed independence and weakening the U.S. dollar.
Trump’s Shortlist and Market Impact
President Donald Trump has reportedly narrowed his Fed chair shortlist to Kevin Hassett, Christopher Waller, and Kevin Warsh. Waller, currently a Fed governor, had previously pushed for faster rate cuts. Novogratz suggested markets may not react until Trump officially announces a nominee, saying: “I don’t think the market will buy Trump’s going to do the crazy, until he does the crazy.”
Bitcoin’s Current Position
At the time of reporting, Bitcoin traded at $109,450, having recently rallied after the Fed’s 25 basis-point rate cut in September 2025. Analysts note that dovish policy expectations could add fuel to the ongoing bull cycle.

Echoing Novogratz, Daleep Singh of PGIM Fixed Income also said the Fed could look “quite different” post-2026, with risks to the U.S. dollar skewed to the downside. For Bitcoin, such a shift could trigger what Novogratz called an “oh shit moment”: soaring gold, skyrocketing Bitcoin, and the strongest institutional bid yet for crypto.
