Spain will rank number 3 on the list of countries with the most Bitcoin ATMs
Bitnovo, one of Spain’s leading bitcoin payment platforms, has partnered with Eurocoin, Europe’s leading supplier of electronic components, to install 100 cryptocurrency ATMs in 2022.
Spain is the first country in Europe when it comes to the number of Bitcoin ATMs. The new facilities would also rank third in the world (behind only the United States and Canada).
Besides Bitcoin, ATMs that have not yet been installed will support Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), and Monero (XMR).
Eurocoin Group, which was founded in 1973, has offices in six European countries.
CEO Fernando Dumont describes most partnerships as a “strategic move” in the cryptocurrency industry. He adds that cryptocurrencies will coexist with traditional means of payment.
Overall, there are 34,659 cryptocurrency ATMs worldwide, according to data provided by CoinATMRadar, with the vast majority of them (30,806) located in the United States. Canada comes second with 2,261 locations.
El Salvador ranks third after the government installed 200 ATMs across the country after Bitcoin was adopted as legal tender by the tropical nation. Spain are currently fourth, but they will likely overtake the Central American nation by the end of the year.
In 2019, Spanish law enforcement raised concerns about criminals using Bitcoin ATMs for money laundering purposes.
